In 2019, the Wanda Metropolitano will
be host to a display of force from the team who will win the 2018–19 UEFA
Champions League.
It’s impossible to know who will win
it. It’s a long season, there will be injuries, they will be fighting for their
leagues, and they will be matched up against each other, so I wouldn’t be
willing to bet on a specific candidate…
…but
where’s the fun in that?
The
strongest teams right now are:
- Juventus: they retained most of their best players, and they bought Bonucci, Perin, and Mr. Champions League himself. You know who.
- Atlético de Madrid: they retained most of their best players, and they bought Lemar, Gelson, Rodri, and Kalinić. And they have one of the best coaches in the world. Plus, they have Griezmann.
- Liverpool: they retained most of their best players, and they bought Keita, Shaqiri, Fabinho, and Alisson. And they have one of the best coaches in the world.
- PSG: they retained all of their best players (at the moment), and they bought Buffon. And Thomas Tuchel can make them play great offensive football.
- Manchester City: they retained all of their best players, they bought Mahrez, and Mendy is back. And they have one of the best coaches in the world.
- Real Madrid: they lost Cristiano Ronaldo and Zidane, they bought Courtois, and they still have one of the best squads on the planet, if not the best. Plus, the window is still open. Lopetegui is a very good coach.
- Barcelona: they lost Iniesta, but they gain Coutinho, Vidal, Arthur, Malcom, and Lenglet. A deeper squad is what I think they lacked last season. Valverde is an outstanding coach. And they have Messi.
Who will win the 2019 UEFA Champions League?
My Top Candidates are:
- 1. Barcelona
- 2. Manchester City
- 3. Juventus
- 4. Atlético de Madrid
