Work has already begun on a technology that will look like a sci-fi movie based on science fiction. But to be honest, it is no longer in the imagination.
Imagine a company anywhere in the world launching a new model of their car online and as a buyer you can drive the car from anywhere in the world.
Or like a dress while shopping online at home. After ordering a digital version of the dress, you ordered the dress.
Suppose a friend of yours posted some amazing pictures on Facebook while hiking in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. This technology will make you feel like you are there when you visit Facebook.
And the technology that will make this happen is called 'Metaverse'.
Metaverse is called the future of the Internet. Technologists say that because of Metaverse, the virtual world of the Internet will feel like a real world where human communication will be multidimensional. With Metaverse technology you will not only be able to see something, you will also be able to immerse yourself in it.
Information technology expert Zakaria Swapan said, "You can call it a 3D virtual world. Most of the current space on the screen is two-dimensional. But in the world of Metavers, our experience will be like 3D. If you talk to someone on the telephone, it will feel like a face-to-face conversation.
To the average person, Metavers technology may seem like a virtual reality or VR version right now. But in fact it is much more than that.
According to technologists, comparing Metaverse with virtual reality is like comparing today's smartphones with mobile phones of the eighties.
Currently VR is mostly used for online gaming, but Metavers will be used for everything from office work to games, concerts, movies, and even chatting with friends.
Many are imagining that this metavers technology will have a 3D avatar or character of the internet user himself and that will represent him online. That means it will be able to turn around and take part in various activities with other characters.
It can be said that this technology allows access to the 'shared virtual environment' through the Internet. In other words, it will be a digital space created using virtual reality, where the digital world will be integrated with the real world.
'When you walk down a street on Google Maps, you can see all the cars, houses and shops in the street view. If I want, I can sit in Dhaka and see the streets of London. So far so good. This is the beginning episode of Metaverse. What will happen next is that I will be able to experience the experience of being in these places even if I am not there, 'said Zakaria Swapan.
Instead of sitting in front of a computer with a VR headset, you can browse your favorite websites. Apart from meeting friends, going to music concerts, shopping and almost everything can be done according to this rule.
Facebook recently announced the hiring of 10,000 employees to expand the Metavers technology in Europe. They are also investing a lot of money in it. The Oculus headset is being built for virtual reality which will cost less than the sets of competing companies.
Epic Games, a maker of Microsoft, Apple, Google, Roblox and Fortnite, is also involved in creating Metavers. They also have a lot of investment in this case.
According to Epic Games, artist Ariana Grande recently performed at a virtual concert on Fortnite with millions of people in attendance.
How long to wait!
Virtual reality technology has improved a lot in the last few years. Some headsets have been created that can manipulate the human eye in such a way that when you walk around the virtual world, it looks like you can see everything in 3D.
Technologists say work on the Metaverse technology has already begun. All the problems will be solved as the speed of internet gets faster, especially after the launch of Five-G in the market.
'10 years ago Metavers was limited to one concept. But at the moment it has come a long way. '
‘We’ve gotten pretty close to Metavers. In the next seven to eight years, you will see that we have entered the world of metavers, 'said information technology expert Zakaria Swapan.
